An LED string light with baubles can add decorative lighting to a shelf, bed or party area. Before buying, however, it is worth taking a close look at the technical details and intended use. Product images can often give a misleading impression of the length, brightness or colour effect. A decorative string light is not automatically suitable for every room or for outdoor use.
A measurement such as “165 cm” often describes the entire string light, including the lead cable. With the Atmosphera version featuring 10 baubles, for example, the illuminated length is 140 cm, while 25 cm is taken up by the lead cable. With a string light featuring 20 baubles, the distance between the light points is also relevant: a greater length does not necessarily mean a closer or more even distribution.
A battery-powered string light can be hung up independently of a socket. This is practical for shelves, alcoves or a table, but can result in ongoing costs when the batteries need replacing. Mains-powered models are more suitable for a permanent installation planned near a socket.

Use hooks, clips or adhesive solutions that can be removed without leaving residue and are suitable for the surface in question. The cable should not be under tension.
