In response to these challenges, alternative application technologies have emerged. These systems rely on physical principles like magnetism or on advanced adhesive materials that enable application without a separate liquid glue.

This technology uses the attractive force of magnets for attachment. There are two primary designs:
Self-adhesive lashes feature a lash band with a pre-applied, pressure-sensitive adhesive strip. This strip typically consists of an acrylates copolymer that forms a temporary bond upon contact with the skin. Application is done by simply pressing the lash band against the lash line. The adhesive strength can be affected by skin oils or moisture, which is why a clean, dry skin surface is essential for application.
Regardless of the application method, the lash fibres themselves are usually made from synthetic materials like polyethylene terephthalate (PET). These fibres offer several advantages:
Designs range from natural-looking lashes, which simply add density, to dramatic, high-volume looks. Accent lashes, which are applied only to the outer corner of the eye, offer a subtle enhancement.

1. How do magnetic lashes work without eyeliner? Systems without eyeliner, also known as dual-magnet systems, consist of two lash strips per eye. One strip is positioned above your natural lashes, the other below. The magnets on both strips attract each other, securely sandwiching your natural lashes in between. No other adhesive is required.
2. Are self-adhesive lashes reusable? The reusability of self-adhesive lashes is limited. The pre-applied adhesive strip loses its tackiness after multiple uses and through contact with skin oils. For maximum lifespan, the lashes should be removed gently and stored on a clean surface. Some manufacturers offer separate replacement adhesive strips.
3. Can glue-free lashes damage natural lashes? With correct application and removal, the risk of damaging your natural lashes is minimal. Unlike strong adhesives that can pull out lashes upon removal, magnetic systems can be released by sliding the magnets apart sideways, and self-adhesive lashes can be removed by gently peeling them off from the outer corner. Forceful removal should always be avoided.
