For lovers of sophisticated design and traditional craftsmanship, choosing the right dinnerware is a significant decision. It's not just about functionality, but also an expression of personality and style. The Wedgwood Kit Kemp Mythical Creatures collection is a prime example of how heritage porcelain can merge with modern, imaginative art.
This article serves as a guide for anyone interested in this special designer dinnerware. We provide objective information and a selection of products from the collection to offer you a basis for an informed decision, whether for your own table or as an exclusive gift.
Acquiring a high-quality dinner service is an investment. Three aspects can help in evaluating the quality and practical value of collections like the Kit Kemp porcelain.
Fine Bone China is renowned for its high durability, brilliant white colour, and remarkable translucency. This material, an icon of English porcelain, contains bone ash, which gives it its characteristic strength while remaining lightweight. When purchasing, you should look for an even glaze and a flawless finish. Wedgwood's pieces stand in this long tradition and are crafted from this high-quality material.
A piece of fine bone china with a gold rim signals luxury and intricate craftsmanship. The 'Mythical Creatures' collection features a 22-carat gold rim, uniquely interpreted by Kit Kemp. Such embellishments require special care. Always check the manufacturer's instructions regarding dishwasher and microwave suitability, as this can vary by product. The gold detailing is not just a decorative element but also a testament to the design's attention to detail.
A colourful and richly detailed dinnerware set like the Wedgwood Mythical Creatures series can dominate a table setting. A proven method for integration is to combine it with simple, white dinnerware. Individual pieces, such as a salad plate or a mug, can serve as accent pieces without overwhelming the overall look. This allows the artistic design to shine, creating a luxury dinner service that feels harmonious and curated.
Based on design, functionality, and representative character, we have selected three pieces from the collection that provide a good overview of the series.
Why It Stands Out This salad plate perfectly captures the essence of the collection. The mythical creatures are placed along the rim, framing the food without distracting from it. The design concept allows you to present each guest with their own little story. Kit Kemp's reinterpretation of the gold rim lends an elegant structure to the playful motif.

Wedgwood's fine bone china is distinguished by its composition, which includes a high percentage of bone ash. According to the manufacturer, this gives the porcelain exceptional strength, high chip-resistance, a bright, almost translucent whiteness, and a light weight. It is considered the epitome of high-quality English porcelain.
Yes, the Wedgwood Kit Kemp Mythical Creatures collection products featured here are dishwasher-safe according to the manufacturer's instructions. However, it is noted that the mug is not intended for the microwave, while the plates are suitable for both. It is generally advisable to follow the manufacturer's specific care instructions for products with gold decoration to ensure the longevity of the embellishment.
